Organizational Background
Transparency Maldives is a non-political organization that endeavors to be
a constructive force in society by promoting collaboration and discussion
on corruption, transparency, and accountability. Our organization seeks to
engage with stakeholders from all sectors (government, business, politics,
and civil society, among others) to raise awareness on corruption's
detrimental effects on development and society, improve transparency and
accountability in governance, and eliminate corruption from the daily lives
of people.
Transparency Maldives received formal government registration in 2007, and
is the National Contact of Transparency International (TI) in the Maldives.
Project Summary
The 'I Choose To Know My Rights' project seeks to contribute to a democracy
education in the Maldives by conducting civic education workshops and
awareness projects in Male and eight rural atolls. The project has two
complementary components: (1) Human Rights education workshops in Male and
Atolls (2) Multi-media competition to promote human rights amongst youth.
The project aims to strengthen and expand a national network of community
based non governmental organizations.
Position Summary
The Technical Consultant will provide support for both component one and
two of the project. S/he will collaborate with the project coordinators in
designing workshops and conducting TOT workshops for in Male. The
consultant will also play a key role in designing guidelines for
multi-media competitions under component two. For component one s/he will
provide training for the project coordinators, and guide the development of
workshop syllabus and training of trainers (TOT) program.
Qualifications
Essential
. High-level of personal integrity.
. Extensive experience with designing and conducting civic education
workshops and workshop materials, experience in training of trainers.
. Ability to work well with others in a team.
. Strong facilitation and training skills and knowledge of participatory
techniques
. Fluency in English with excellent writing skills
. Ability to meet tight deadlines
. Computer skills (Word, Excel, etc.)
. University degree or equivalent
Desirable
. Relevant master's degree.
