On 20 November 2025, Transparency International Malaysia, in collaboration with Transparency International – Defence & Security (TI-DS), convened a Roundtable Discussion on Advancing Access to Information in the Defence and Security Sector.
The event brought together like-minded experts from diverse backgrounds, including government representatives, academics, think tanks, and civil society organizations, to exchange insights and perspectives on strengthening transparency in this critical field.
We were honored to be joined by Mr. Yi Kang Choo, Programme Manager for Defence & Security and Global Health at Transparency International UK, who served as the subject matter expert and led the discussion.
The roundtable aimed to:
📌 Explore the application of the Tshwane Principles within Malaysia’s defence and security sector.
📌 Examine how the implementation of these principles could enhance Malaysia’s performance in the Government Defence Integrity Index (GDI), published by Transparency International – Defence & Security (TI-DS).
Through this roundtable, we provided a platform for open dialogue and collaboration, fostering constructive discussion among stakeholders and reinforcing our shared commitment to advancing transparency, accountability, and integrity in Malaysia’s defence and security sector.
